25 Aug
Summary
- Suspects Misty Gomez and Antonio Garcia arrested in Mexico.
- Two young daughters of Misty Gomez are currently in Mexico.
- Geoff Bernardi, a Clovis Unified School District educator, was murdered.

Suspects Misty Gomez and Antonio Garcia were arrested in Mexico and have since been booked into the Fresno County Jail in connection with the murder of Clovis educator Geoff Bernardi. Authorities identified Gomez, who was reportedly dating Bernardi, as a person of interest after she fled to Mexico with her two young daughters. These children, 9-year-old Skye Mason and 12-year-old Castiel Hernandez, are now in the custody of DIF, Mexico's child protective services, in Michoacan.
Both of Gomez's daughters were reported missing by their families in April. Their fathers and grandmothers are urgently seeking their return, expressing frustration with the prolonged process and bureaucratic delays. While Gomez and Garcia were extradited to the U.S. last week and appeared in Alameda County jail before transfer to Fresno, the children's return is uncertain. A former U.S. Marshal explained that thorough procedures are necessary before the girls can be brought back and potentially evaluated.
