R&B artist Chris Brown appeared before Judge Tony Baumgartner at Southwark Crown Court on Wednesday for a hearing preceding his trial. The trial, scheduled for October 26, concerns an alleged bottle attack at the Tape private members' club in Mayfair during February 2023.
During the brief hearing, legal representatives updated the judge on trial preparations. Judge Baumgartner reaffirmed Brown's existing bail conditions. These include a substantial £5 million security fee. The conditions also permit international travel for his world tour, provided his passport is surrendered upon arrival in each country.
Brown has entered not guilty pleas to charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, possessing an offensive weapon (a bottle), and attempting to cause grievous bodily harm. He faces these charges related to an incident involving Abraham Diaw at the Tape venue.
Also facing charges is his vocal coach, Omololu Akinlolu, who has also pleaded not guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Both defendants are scheduled for another pre-trial hearing on April 26.
