Chittorgarh Police Seize 151.5 kg of Illegal Poppy Husk, Arrest Suspect

On October 5th, 2025, the Begun police station team in Chittorgarh district carried out a successful operation against drug smuggling, resulting in the arrest of one person and the seizure of a substantial amount of illegal poppy husk.

According to Chittorgarh SP Manish Tripathi, the police officers in the district have been directed to intensify their efforts to check and prevent the smuggling of poppy husk. A special team under Begun police station officer Shivlal Meena set up a blockade on NH-27 from Chittorgarh to Kota, where they spotted a Toyota car with two persons inside.

The car attempted to break through the barricades, but the police team managed to puncture the car's tires using stop sticks. The vehicle then traveled about 100 meters before coming to a stop. The driver, Khushpal Singh, fled towards the jungle, but the passenger, Mandeep Singh, a 28-year-old resident of Haryana's Karnal district, was apprehended.

Upon searching the vehicle, the police discovered 151.5 kg of illegal poppy husk. The arrested suspect, Mandeep Singh, has been charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and the police have launched an investigation to locate the absconding driver, Khushpal Singh.
