An 18-month-old boy, kidnapped from the Manona Dham temple complex in Aonla, Bareilly, was successfully rescued by police. The rescue occurred late on Tuesday night following a police encounter with alleged child traffickers. The child's father had reported him missing on May 24 from the temple grounds.
Information received by the police indicated the suspects planned to sell the child in Delhi. A police checkpoint was established, leading to a chase when the suspects failed to stop. During the pursuit, their motorcycle skidded, and they abandoned the infant in roadside bushes, where he was safely recovered.
The accused then engaged the police in a gunfight, sustaining leg injuries from retaliatory fire. A head constable was also injured during the incident. Both suspects, identified as residents of Shahjahanpur, were arrested and received medical attention along with the rescued child. Police recovered weapons and the motorcycle used in the crime.
