Summary
- 4-year-old forcefully taken from Kennewick home.
- Suspect made threats to harm his daughter.
- Child was found unharmed in Pasco early Sunday.

A tense situation in Kennewick concluded with the safe recovery of a 4-year-old girl who was the subject of an AMBER Alert. The child was forcibly taken from her home on Saturday afternoon by 41-year-old Matthew Susmilch. Authorities stated that Susmilch assaulted an individual at the residence and then abducted his daughter, issuing threats to harm her.
Kennewick police and SWAT responded to the scene, but Susmilch and the child had already departed before officers arrived. The AMBER Alert, issued on Saturday evening, was canceled early Sunday morning after the child was found safe and unharmed in Pasco. Susmilch, however, is still being sought by law enforcement for first-degree kidnapping, second-degree assault, and making threats to kill. He is considered armed and dangerous and has distinctive neck and sleeve tattoos.
