31 Jul
Summary
- Deputies discovered deplorable living conditions including mold and feces.
- Three adults were arrested for child neglect following a search warrant.
- Animals were also found and surrendered to county animal services.

In Florahome, Florida, a warranted search of a residence at 170 Nettles Road on Tuesday led to the arrest of three adults for child neglect. Detectives discovered extremely unsanitary living conditions, including black mold, rotting floors, animal feces, and swarms of flies. The discovery prompted the removal of the last child residing in the home by the Department of Children and Families.
This action followed the prior arrest of Jodie Cannon, who lived at the residence with a newborn and other children. The newborn had been hospitalized for medical neglect. The search warrant was executed to document the unsafe environment, which included extensive ceiling damage and animal waste throughout the property.
Melissa Keal, John Keal, and Jordan Wilson were charged with child neglect as adult household members who failed to provide necessary care. Authorities have maintained contact with the State Attorney's Office, and additional charges are possible. Four dogs and three kittens were voluntarily surrendered to Putnam County Animal Services.
