Child Dies After Parents' CPR; Police Investigate

On Sunday, February 1, 2026, Cobb County emergency services received a distressing call reporting a five-year-old boy was not breathing. First responders arrived at the scene to find the child unresponsive, and despite immediate medical intervention, he remained in critical condition.
The child was transported to Kennestone Hospital and later airlifted to Atlanta's Arthur M. Blank Hospital. Tragically, he was pronounced deceased the following morning, just before 11:00 AM, after extensive life support efforts.
Marietta Police Department detectives initiated a criminal investigation due to the circumstances. As a result, warrants were secured on Monday morning, leading to the arrest of both parents on a combined total of 12 felony charges. They are currently held at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.
The Georgia Division of Family and Children Services has become involved, taking custody of the family's four other children. The investigation is ongoing, and further charges may be filed as new evidence emerges.
