Child Brutally Attacked Over Old Dispute
2 Apr
Summary
- Child assaulted after wandering into a parked autorickshaw.
- Assailant sought revenge for a two-year-old financial disagreement.
- The injured child remains in critical condition in the ICU.

A young child, Vignesh, was brutally attacked by a building resident, Sandeep Pawar, 57, in an apparent act of revenge. The assault occurred on Monday evening when Vignesh, playing with other children, entered a parked autorickshaw. Pawar allegedly dragged the child out, swung him, and smashed his head on the ground before dragging him upstairs.
Pawar told police the attack was motivated by an unresolved financial dispute from two years prior with Vignesh's father, Atul Kondhare, over interior decoration work. Vignesh was admitted to the ICU at Wockhardt Hospital in Mira Road and underwent an MRI scan, with results expected on Friday.
Pawar has been arrested and booked under attempt to murder and other relevant sections. Police are recording Atul Kondhare's statement to corroborate the motive. Medical tests indicated Pawar was not under the influence of alcohol or narcotics, but his mental condition will be assessed. Experts suggest the behavior could indicate a personality disorder, potentially narcissism, due to the long-held grudge.
