A harrowing discovery of child abuse unfolded when an 11-year-old boy, clad only in his underwear and bearing signs of a severe beating, ran from his Fox Lake apartment on Friday morning. He sought refuge at a local flower shop, where an employee contacted police. Officers arrived at the family's home and found three younger children, a 1-year-old and a 2-year-old girl, and two boys aged 7 and 12 who were at school. The boy who initially sought help had reportedly endured years of physical abuse.
Investigators noted the boy's injuries included abrasions, cuts, welts, and bruising, along with signs of having dish soap poured on him. His mother, Pricilla Marshall, 34, and her partner, Cody Marion, 35, were arrested. Marion faces charges including aggravated battery and endangering the life of a child. Marshall's detention hearing was scheduled for Tuesday afternoon. All four children were taken into protective custody and are now with relatives.
