3-Year-Old Safe After Abduction and Wild Chase

A 3-year-old boy, abducted from a Los Angeles home in Van Nuys on Wednesday morning, was found safe later that day after a dramatic pursuit. The Los Angeles Police Department reported the child was taken around 8:13 a.m. during a home invasion.
Authorities believe the incident may have stemmed from a custody dispute between the suspect and the victim. The suspect, an adult male, fled the scene in a black Chevrolet Equinox rental vehicle with Oregon license plates, possibly armed.
The California Highway Patrol tracked the SUV, which was equipped with OnStar. This technology allowed authorities to remotely disable the vehicle just north of Shields Avenue in Fresno County.
The suspect was taken into custody without incident. The 3-year-old boy was found safe inside the vehicle and is now being reunited with his family.
