Joshua Michals, a 26-year-old Chicago student studying in London, has been convicted of murdering his on-and-off girlfriend, Zhe Wang. The Metropolitan Police reported that Wang, 31, was found with stab wounds to her face and signs of sustained neck compression.
Prosecutors argued that Michals "flew into a rage" during a visit to Wang's home, leading to the fatal attack. The dispute reportedly intensified over Wang's repeated requests for Michals to undergo STD testing. Michals' defense claimed self-defense, alleging Wang attacked him with a knife.
Following the incident, Michals contacted his father to secure a lawyer before calling the police nearly four hours later. Bloodstained clothing found at his residence was confirmed to contain Wang's DNA, contributing to the jury's guilty verdict.
