Dantewada Naxalites Surrender: 37 Join Mainstream

In a significant development for peace efforts in Chhattisgarh, thirty-seven Naxalites, including twelve women, laid down their arms in Dantewada district. The surrender occurred as part of the 'Poona Margem' initiative, focusing on rehabilitation and reintegration into society. This program has been instrumental in fostering peace and progress in the Bastar region.

Among those who surrendered were high-value targets, including four key cadres each carrying an ₹8 lakh reward. These individuals are identified as Kumali alias Anita Mandavi, Geeta alias Lakshmi Madkam, Ranjan alias Soma Mandavi, and Bhima alias Jahaj Kalmu. The government's comprehensive rehabilitation policy ensures that each surrendered cadre receives immediate assistance of ₹50,000, alongside access to training for skill development and agricultural land.

The success of these rehabilitation policies is evident, with over 508 Maoists, including 165 with rewards, having quit violence in Dantewada over the past 20 months. This trend indicates a growing desire among cadres to transition back to social life, contributing to a sustained reduction in Naxalite activities across Chhattisgarh.
