Ten individuals have been arrested in connection with the murder of 23-year-old Adhi alias Adhi Kesavan, a history-sheeter who was fatally attacked at Kilpauk Medical College hospital. The victim, known for his involvement in seven criminal cases including murder, was reportedly killed in the early hours of Monday.
Adhi Kesavan was at the hospital to visit his girlfriend, Suchitra, whose premature baby had recently died. He was attacked while sleeping amongst other patient attendees near the labour ward. Police swiftly apprehended eight suspects, with two more, Dinesh and Keerthivasan, arrested on Wednesday.
Further investigations into the security lapse at the hospital led to the suspension of five police personnel, including a special sub-inspector. The accused have been remanded in judicial custody as the case continues.
