Gold Snatcher Nabbed for Rs 5.2 Lakh Loan Repayment

In Chennai, three individuals were apprehended for the theft of nine sovereigns of gold jewelry from a 63-year-old woman. The incident occurred as the victim was returning to her apartment.
Authorities identified Srinivasan alias Burma Seenu, aged 50, as the primary suspect. Seenu, who had been released from prison in March 2026 following a previous robbery conviction, reportedly committed the offense to settle a financial loan. He pawned the stolen gold for Rs 5.2 lakh.
Further investigation led to the arrests of Kumaran, an autorickshaw driver, and Anita, an associate of a known criminal. Kumaran had accepted the pledged jewelry, and Anita received a portion of the loan money. Police seized Rs 1.91 lakh from them, and all three suspects were remanded into judicial custody.
