In Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai, a woman fell victim to a scam orchestrated by a man posing as a spiritual healer. The accused, identified as Balamurugan, approached the victim, Manju, claiming her family was under a black magic curse that required immediate attention.
During a staged ritual within her home, the man instructed Manju to place cash and gold jewelry on a specific spot. While she was momentarily distracted, he absconded with the valuables, including two gold bangles and a pair of earrings, along with 10,000.
Authorities apprehended Balamurugan on Saturday in connection with the incident. A search led to the recovery of some of the stolen gold jewelry and 2,000 in cash, along with a mobile phone. Investigations are ongoing.
