Suspended Cop Attempts Suicide After Colleague's Death
3 Mar
Summary
- A suspended woman head constable attempted suicide.
- The suspension was related to a murder investigation at Kilpauk hospital.
- Her colleague, a special sub-inspector, had died by suicide last month.

A head constable in Chennai, identified as J Ambika, recently attempted suicide at her home in TP Chatram. This incident occurred on Monday, weeks after she was suspended. Her suspension was due to alleged negligence in connection with the murder of a rowdy named Aathi alias Aadikesavan at the Kilpauk government medical college hospital on January 11.
Ambika was one of five police personnel suspended following the murder. Significantly, a special sub-inspector, Giridharan, who was also suspended in the same case, had died by suicide last month in Sevvapet. Following Giridharan's death, the suspension for the police officials was withdrawn.
Despite the withdrawal of suspension, Ambika reportedly faced challenges related to her salary. While alone at her residence, she attempted to end her life. Her family members discovered her, rescued her, and immediately rushed her to the Kilpauk government medical college hospital, where she is currently undergoing intensive treatment. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.
