Summary
- Head chef fell into alcoholism and homelessness.
- Victim found dead with severe blunt force trauma.
- Accused allegedly admitted to killing someone.

Alexis De Naray, a 45-year-old former head chef from London's high-end restaurants, was discovered murdered in a derelict building in Shrewsbury. Jurors at Stafford Crown Court heard that De Naray had developed chronic alcoholism due to the stressful nature of his work, leading to homelessness despite his father's efforts to provide accommodation.
His body was found in an attic room with evidence of a significant blunt force assault, including 17 fractured ribs and head injuries. The prosecution alleges that Adam Rowson, 26, attacked De Naray between June 23 and June 28 last year. Rowson denies murder and manslaughter.
Prosecutors presented CCTV evidence showing De Naray and Rowson walking towards the derelict building shortly before De Naray was last seen alive. Rowson was later allegedly overheard on CCTV admitting to killing someone and was seen using the victim's bank card and wearing a blood-stained jumper.
