A head constable with the Chandigarh police was found deceased in his government residence in Sector 22 on Friday. The officer, identified as Nitin Singh, sustained a fatal gunshot injury to his head. His son, Armaan, has been detained by authorities and is considered the prime suspect in the case.
Armaan was reportedly at home with his mother when the incident occurred, following an argument with his father. Notably, Armaan had previously been arrested and subsequently released on bail for his involvement in a case where two brothers died after their motorcycle was hit by a Thar vehicle he was driving.
Police recovered a locally made pistol from the crime scene. The Senior Superintendent of Police visited Singh's home to oversee the initial investigation. Singh was assigned to the accounts branch at the police headquarters.
