New CCTV footage has surfaced regarding the suspected suicide of a 33-year-old Noida woman at her marital home in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. The incident occurred on May 12, with her husband and mother-in-law facing allegations of dowry harassment, assault, and murder. One video shows the deceased ascending stairs, while another appears to show her husband attempting CPR twice. The mother-in-law, a retired judge, is seen entering another room, and two men later help the husband carry the unresponsive woman downstairs.
The husband, a lawyer and the primary accused, is absconding after his anticipatory bail plea was rejected by the court. Bhopal Police have announced a ₹10,000 reward for information leading to his arrest. The deceased had communicated with her parents until around 10 PM on the day of her death, expressing distress and alleging infidelity accusations from her husband after she wanted to abort her pregnancy. Her family reported significant weight loss due to alleged mental torture post-marriage and demanded an independent autopsy at AIIMS Delhi, citing perceived lapses in the local probe.
Conversely, the deceased's mother-in-law claimed the woman suffered from psychological illness and depression, alleging her family pushed her into the glamour world. She stated the deceased's family had not visited in five months and were now obstructing the funeral. The husband's bail plea also suggested a change in the deceased's behavior after pregnancy and a miscarriage. An FIR has been filed against the husband and mother-in-law under dowry death provisions. The SIT is investigating dowry and abetment sections, while addressing concerns about potential probe lapses, including a failure to submit the alleged hanging rope for examination during the autopsy.
