8 May
Summary
- Cashier forged signatures of elderly and disabled customers.
- Stolen funds were used to finance expensive international holidays.
- Colleagues spotted her lavish trips on social media, leading to arrest.

Kelly Kershaw, a 54-year-old cashier, received a 16-month prison sentence for defrauding vulnerable customers at a Nationwide building society. She manipulated accounts belonging to elderly individuals and a man with learning disabilities in Caernarfon, Gwynedd, over a 12-month period.
Kershaw committed five counts of fraud, stealing a minimum of £8,605. The illicit funds were used to finance expensive international holidays, including safaris in Africa and trips to Paris, Tuscany, and Dubai. Her extravagant lifestyle was exposed when colleagues recognized her on social media platforms.
During sentencing at Caernarfon Crown Court, Judge Timothy Petts stated that Kershaw's repeated thefts reflected her true character, despite her claims of not recognizing herself during that period. The conviction highlights a serious breach of trust against vulnerable clientele.
