A serious incident has prompted a review of care at the Windmill Care Home in Rollesby, Norfolk. A woman in her 90s allegedly suffered an assault by another resident on April 13. She was taken to the James Paget Hospital with life-threatening injuries and tragically died six days later.
Following the incident, officers engaged with residents and their families. A man in his 60s was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He has since been sectioned under the Mental Health Act. The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has conducted a full inspection and is liaising with the police.
The CQC stated they are awaiting the conclusion of the police investigation before releasing their report and determining any necessary regulatory actions. The care home management has declined to comment due to the active police inquiry. The Windmill home has been operational since 1987 and received a 'good' rating in its 2023 CQC report.
