A man identified as Willie Kenard Thomas III, 38, of Winston-Salem, was arrested on Saturday in Kernersville. He is accused of stealing a gold Toyota Camry in Guilford County and subsequently using stolen credit cards in Kernersville.
Kernersville police officers spotted the stolen Camry on August 8th, which had been reported in connection with a robbery. They used their patrol cars to stop the vehicle. Thomas initially refused to identify himself but was later confirmed to be the individual involved in the car theft and robbery.
Authorities further allege that Thomas attempted to use a stolen American Express card at a Walmart on South Main Street. He also successfully used a stolen MasterCard at the same store to purchase clothing. These items were later recovered from the vehicle.
Thomas faces several charges in Kernersville, including felony possession of a stolen motor vehicle, resisting an officer, and multiple counts of obtaining property by false pretenses. He also faces a felony larceny of a motor vehicle charge in Guilford County.
