Summary

- He is wanted for two 2017 murders: a mob boss and a vet technician.
- Tomassetti faces charges including murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

A nearly decade-long manhunt has concluded with the arrest of Daniel Tomassetti, a Canadian fugitive wanted in connection with two murders. Tomassetti, 35, was apprehended in Mexico in August, nine years after he fled Canada. Canadian authorities are now seeking his extradition to face charges including two counts of first-degree murder. These charges relate to the 2017 targeted killings of mob boss Angelo Musitano and veterinary technician Mila Barberi. Angelo Musitano was fatally shot in his Hamilton driveway in May 2017. Weeks later, his brother, Pasquale Musitano, survived a shooting but was later killed in 2020. Mila Barberi was mistakenly killed in a mob hit intended for her boyfriend, Saverio Serrano, who had alleged organized crime ties. Tomassetti is believed to have facilitated these killings, though not pulled the trigger. He fled to Mexico in January 2018, intentionally evading surveillance by leaving his phone behind. Two other individuals linked to the murders, Michael Cudmore and Daniele Ranieri, were found deceased in Mexico. Tomassetti was listed as one of Canada's 25 most wanted fugitives in 2023, with a $50,000 reward for information leading to his capture. He is reportedly contesting his extradition.
