Shannon O'Connor, a California mother, has been convicted of felony child abuse for allegedly hosting alcohol- and sex-fueled parties for teenagers during the COVID-19 pandemic. The jury found O'Connor, 51, guilty on 48 counts, which include two felony sex offenses, following a trial that spanned approximately 16 weeks.
Prosecutors asserted that O'Connor's house was a venue for "chaotic, alcohol-soaked benders" and normalized sexual activity among minors. Testimony revealed instances of alcohol overconsumption, blackouts, and sexual assault. One victim, Jane Doe 6, testified about witnessing violent behavior by a male teenager, John Doe 7, towards another girl, Jane Doe 4, while O'Connor allegedly laughed.
O'Connor was arrested in June 2021 and has been in custody since. Her indictment in 2023 comprised 63 counts, including child endangerment and furnishing alcohol to minors. Sentencing is pending, with a potential sentence exceeding 30 years if aggravating circumstances are applied by the judge.
