Melissa Lynn Beisel, a 41-year-old mother of five, faces murder charges related to the death of her 2-year-old son, Aidan. The incident occurred in September 2025 when police responded to Beisel's home in Placentia, California.
Officers found Beisel in a shower with superficial stab wounds to her neck and arms, alongside Aidan's body. The water was running. Beisel told authorities she had stepped away for two minutes while bathing Aidan, only to return and find him unresponsive in a plastic bin.
She reportedly attempted CPR and then inflicted self-harm with a sharp object. Beisel allegedly remained with the child for approximately six hours before his father discovered them and alerted authorities. The Orange County District Attorney's Office has since ruled Aidan's death a homicide.
Beisel has been charged with one felony count of murder and one felony count of assault on a child. If convicted, she could face a sentence of 25 years to life. A motive for the alleged crime has not yet been disclosed.
