Year Later: Mystery Surrounds California Woman's Disappearance

One year has passed since 65-year-old Raushan Aitpayeva disappeared without a trace while on a walk in Simi Valley, California. Her daughter, Maiya Meyer, shared that her mother vanished on July 11, 2025, during a sunny afternoon in a safe neighborhood.

Aitpayeva, who was living with Meyer's family and doted on her grandchildren, was described as fit and outdoorsy with no known health conditions. She never left home without her cell phone or informing her family of her whereabouts.

Collected doorbell camera footage tracked Aitpayeva's movements over two hours. The videos show her walking for extended periods in the 86-degree heat, sometimes passing the same houses multiple times. The last known sighting was at 2 p.m. that day.

Private investigator Steve Fischer noted Aitpayeva's prolonged exposure to heat without water and questioned an object she was holding, which appeared to light up. Meyer now believes her mother might have exhibited early signs of dementia, recalling instances of repetitive speech.

While Fischer has not seen definitive evidence of foul play, he suggests Aitpayeva might have become lost and wandered further than anticipated. Meyer, however, leans towards the possibility of her mother being picked up by a car or invited into a home, expressing a deep desire for her return.
