Calgary police are appealing for public help to identify two young suspects involved in a theft and assault incident at a business on 17 Avenue S.W. The incident took place on May 27, shortly before 9:30 a.m. Two individuals entered the store, requesting water, but became confrontational when informed they needed to pay.
The female suspect reportedly became disorderly, discarding items and taking a banana without payment. When an employee attempted to escort the pair out, the female suspect allegedly assaulted the employee. Both suspects, described as being between 12 and 18 years old, then fled the scene.
Authorities have released images of the suspects, whose faces are blurred due to their potential youth status, which affords identity protection under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The female suspect had dark, medium-length hair and wore an all-black tracksuit. The male suspect was attired in an all-black tracksuit with white stripes, a black hat, black shoes, and was carrying a longboard. Anyone with information is urged to contact Calgary police or Crime Stoppers.
