HC Slams Police in Domestic Violence Case
22 Jan
Summary
- Court criticized Behala police for a slipshod investigation.
- Attempt-to-murder section was not added despite life-threatening injuries.
- Probe transferred to DC (South-West) and a special investigation team.

The Calcutta High Court has taken a stern stance against the Behala police's handling of a domestic violence case, transferring the investigation to the Deputy Commissioner (South-West). The court expressed dissatisfaction, labeling the initial probe as "slipshod and lackadaisical."
Justice Suvra Ghosh observed that the Behala police failed to include an attempt-to-murder charge, even when the victim's injury report clearly indicated life-threatening conditions following alleged physical assaults, including attempted strangulation.
