Cake-Loving Burglar Caught on CCTV, Sentenced to Over 2 Years

In a bizarre case of burglary, a man named Dillon Currie, also known as Abeeb Hussain, has been sentenced to over two years in jail for a series of break-ins in Peterborough, UK. According to the police, Currie, 33, with no known address, broke into three separate homes in the Welland and Westwood areas of the city in late July 2025.

The first two incidents occurred on July 26th, when Currie was caught on CCTV footage smashing his way into two properties. At the first home, he not only stole a mobile phone but also helped himself to a slice of birthday cake. Thirty minutes later, he struck again, this time breaking into another house and stealing steaks and other grocery items.

Currie's third burglary took place the following day at a house in Flore Close, Westwood, where he stole a 50-inch TV and a gold-colored copy of the Quran. When officers arrested him on August 1st, they found the stolen religious text in his possession.

Currie pleaded guilty to all three charges of burglary at Cambridge Crown Court on November 7th and was sentenced to two years and two months in prison. Detective Constable George Corney described Currie's "audacity to help himself to a slice of cake during a burglary" as "mind-boggling" and said the crimes had a significant psychological and financial impact on the victims.
