A joint operation by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) in Buxar has resulted in the arrest of four individuals implicated in a train theft racket. The operation, named 'Operation Yatri Suraksha,' aimed to bolster passenger safety and was conducted on Thursday and Friday.
One suspect, Suhail Ansari, was apprehended red-handed aboard the Amrit Bharat Express while attempting to flee after snatching a cellphone from a passenger. His subsequent interrogation provided crucial information, leading the police to two associates, Suhail Khan and Dharmendra Kumar. These two were arrested on the station premises.
Further investigation revealed that the apprehended individuals confessed to targeting passengers on trains and selling stolen mobile phones to a local shopkeeper, identified as Mohd Nasir. A raid on Nasir's shop in Gajadharganj led to the recovery of two high-end cellphones and his subsequent arrest. The accused reportedly formed their criminal alliance in jail and had resumed their activities upon release.
A case has been registered against all four individuals. Authorities seized a purse, four cellphones, and a blade from the accused during the operation.
