Buxar Violence: Six Named in Murder FIR
16 Dec
Summary
- One man was shot dead, another injured in Buxar firing.
- Six individuals were named in an FIR for the murder.
- The attack may be revenge for a prior triple murder.

Tragedy struck Buxar district on Monday night as Ramakant Pathak, aged 60, was fatally shot near Rasen village under Rajpur police station. Another individual, Vijay Shankar Chaubey, sustained serious leg injuries during the assault, which involved around ten rounds of gunfire. Eight empty cartridges and two misfired bullets were recovered from the scene.
Authorities have registered an FIR against six people based on Vijay Shankar Chaubey's statement. Chaubey claims the attackers were relatives of victims from the Ahiyapur triple murder case, suggesting the shooting was an act of retribution. He recounted that he and Pathak were walking near fields when armed assailants, allegedly concealed near a canal, unleashed indiscriminate fire.
Buxar SP Shubham Arya stated that the investigation is under his personal supervision, emphasizing that all potential motives are being examined. This incident follows the May 24th triple murder of three cousins in Ahiyapur village, stemming from a dispute over sand and gravel storage, for which several accused, including a former district board vice-chairman, are already in custody. Police have taken a relative of a key witness into custody for further questioning.
