A man identified as Kevin Edward Quigley, 45, has received a sentence of four years and eight months for a severe burglary and assault on an elderly couple. The incident occurred on April 6, 2025, at the couple's home, where they had resided for 45 years.
Quigley broke into the residence in the early hours. The 78-year-old woman was preparing for morning prayers when she discovered the intruder. Her husband, 79, was then subjected to a sustained assault in his bedroom, resulting in bruising and facial injuries.
The male victim experienced chest pains diagnosed as potentially stress-induced cardiomyopathy. His wife also required hospital treatment for heart issues following the traumatic ordeal. Both victims have been unable to return to their home and are currently staying with a relative.
During sentencing, the court highlighted the aggravating factors of the victims' age and the invasion of their home by an intoxicated stranger. Quigley expressed remorse in a letter, calling his actions "horrendous chaos," "recklessness," and "disgraceful."
In addition to the prison sentence, Quigley received a ten-year restraining order, preventing him from entering the victims' neighborhood. The female victim stated the home is now empty and she misses the person she was before the incident.
