Macorley Collins, 27, has been sentenced to 32 months in prison for a crime spree targeting elderly residents in Stockport. His offenses, spanning from September to December of the previous year, involved brazen daytime burglaries. Collins admitted to 10 charges, with six additional offenses taken into consideration during his sentencing at Minshull Street Crown Court.
During his four-month period of criminal activity, Collins stole a variety of items, including medication, jewelry valued at approximately £3,000, a PlayStation 5, a Rolex watch, and valuable family heirlooms. Significantly, he also took First World War medals and a military OBE. His capture was facilitated when police discovered a gardening glove bearing his DNA at one of the properties he had burgled.
PC Lucy Ward highlighted Collins's clear disregard for people and their property, noting his daytime operations. The investigation, aided by forensic DNA analysis of the glove, led to Collins's arrest and subsequent guilty plea. Authorities emphasized their commitment to investigating burglaries and ensuring residents feel safe in their homes.
