A swift response by the Pimpri Chinchwad crime branch led to the rescue of a 43-year-old building material supplier within six hours of his Monday evening abduction from Kalewadi. Five men were arrested near Sangamner in Ahilyanagar district, thwarting their Rs 50 lakh ransom demand.
During the operation, law enforcement recovered two country-made pistols, six cartridges, a car, and the victim's expensive wristwatch, valued collectively at Rs 18 lakh. An additional suspect was apprehended in Kalewadi for allegedly masterminding the abduction. The victim was reportedly intercepted in Shivranagar by the gang, who posed as Uttar Pradesh police personnel.
Authorities tracked the abductors toward Nashik and set a trap at a toll plaza near Sangamner. The suspects, identified as hailing from Uttar Pradesh, had arrived in Pune just three days prior to the incident. They had transferred Rs 60,000 from the victim's UPI account before abandoning him.
