In a shocking incident that has sent shockwaves through the Hirakud community, six individuals were arrested on November 3rd, 2025, for the brutal murder of history-sheeter Kalu Bahadur Biswal. The accused, identified as Saini Behera, Pratap Behera, Jaynarayan Mishra, Raj Barik, Sridhar Prasad, and Samir Behera, were reportedly seeking revenge for the 2019 murder of Bunty Behera, a criminal who was killed by Kalu.
The incident occurred on November 2nd, 2025, around 7:30 pm, when Kalu was spotted roaming near the Kartik Purnima mandap with an acquaintance. The accused, who have criminal records, attacked Kalu, first hitting him with a wooden baton, then assaulting him with bricks, a sword, and finally slitting his throat with a knife. The person accompanying Kalu tried to intervene but was also injured and is currently undergoing treatment.
