Two 16-year-old boys are in custody after allegedly engaging in a carjacking spree across Brooklyn on Tuesday night. The crime spree began around 7:40 p.m. when the duo reportedly used a firearm to steal a Toyota Camry from a 23-year-old man on East 15th Street.
Following the first carjacking, one suspect fled the scene but allegedly carjacked a second vehicle, a RAV-4, from a 54-year-old woman on Kimball Street. This led to a police pursuit toward East 100th Street.
Officers attempted to stop the stolen RAV-4, but the suspect allegedly drove toward an officer on the sidewalk. The officer discharged their firearm, and the suspect subsequently crashed near Pennsylvania and Wortman avenues, where they were apprehended. No injuries were sustained during the incident, and it is unclear if the vehicle was struck by gunfire.
