Summary
- A 28-year-old runner is on life support after a violent stabbing.
- The attack appears random, with nothing stolen from the victim.
- Police are seeking information and offering a $10,000 reward.

An unprovoked and violent attack has left Katie Suarez, 28, on life support. The avid runner was stabbed in the neck while jogging on Friday evening along the Belt Parkway waterfront in Brooklyn. She had called her father around 8 p.m. to report she was close to home, but her father later found her severely injured.
Police Chief of Detectives Joe Kenny described the attack as "very violent," noting a significant blood trail at the scene. Investigators believe the assault was random, as nothing appeared to have been taken from Suarez, and there were no indications of sexual trauma. The attack occurred along the Shore Parkway Greenway, an area with no surveillance cameras.
Detectives are reviewing data from license plate readers that captured thousands of vehicles passing the area at the time of the incident, hoping to identify drivers with dash cameras. The NYPD released a photograph of Suarez, who has participated in local races, in an effort to find anyone who may have seen her between 7:56 p.m. and 8:12 p.m. on Friday. A $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
