Two British nationals, Kial Garth Robinson, 29, and Piran Ezra Wilkinson, 48, have been sentenced to a total of 20 years imprisonment for cocaine smuggling into Bali. Robinson was handed an 11-year sentence, while Wilkinson received nine years. Both must also pay a fine of approximately £45,000 or face an additional 190 days in jail.
Robinson, a landscape gardener, was arrested on September 3, 2025, at Bali International Airport with 1,321g of cocaine found in his luggage. He claimed to have been recruited by an individual named Santos and was instructed to transport the drugs from Barcelona to Bali. This marked his first involvement in drug trafficking.
Prosecutors stated Robinson received $3,000 for flight tickets and expenses for the trip. He had planned to travel to Thailand after his stop in Bali. Both men have accepted their sentences, with their lawyers indicating they view the experience as a lesson. Indonesia enforces strict drug trafficking laws, with the death penalty being the most severe punishment, though executions have not occurred since 2016.
