A sophisticated international crime syndicate, believed to be operating from the United Arab Emirates, has been apprehended after a series of high-value vehicle thefts in Brisbane. Between October 20 and December 1, approximately 60 luxury vehicles, including popular Toyota models, were stolen without keys. Police estimate the total value of the stolen cars to be around $8 million.
The thieves utilized a CAN Injector, an electronic device capable of hacking Toyota's computer systems to unlock doors and start engines. This technological edge allowed them to steal approximately two vehicles per day. Following an intensive two-month investigation, seven foreign nationals were arrested and charged with over 300 offenses, including multiple counts of vehicle theft.
