In Kadapa, a tragic incident unfolded when a woman named Rehana died by suicide on April 21. She had been engaged since February to Shahjahan, with their wedding planned for August. Initially, their relationship appeared strong, characterized by frequent phone conversations.
However, approximately three weeks prior to her death, Shahjahan's behavior changed drastically. He began pressuring Rehana to cancel the marriage, reportedly telling her he had been involved with four other women and lacked feelings for her. He claimed parental pressure had led him to agree to the wedding.
Rehana fell into a deep depression following this pressure. She was found to have died by suicide by hanging herself at her residence. A 12-page suicide note she left behind detailed her suffering and the circumstances that led her to take this extreme step.
Following a complaint filed by Rehana's father, Nadendla Raja, the Chinna Chowk police registered a case. Shahjahan and his parents, M Veeraiah and M Waheeda, were arrested on charges of abetment to suicide. The accused were subsequently presented before a local court and placed in judicial remand.
