Missing Man Case: 14 Years Later, Foul Play Suspected
17 Feb
Summary
- Police suspect foul play in Brendan Breen's 14-year disappearance.
- Breen's bank accounts and phone remain untouched since 2012.
- He missed his daughter's funeral, an act considered out of character.

Police in Victoria are revisiting the 2012 disappearance of Brendan Breen, now suspecting foul play after a review of the case. Mr. Breen, 55 at the time, was last seen on April 12, 2012, and reported missing nearly a month later.
Investigators initially thought Mr. Breen may have voluntarily disappeared. However, the review highlighted critical concerns, including the fact that his bank accounts and phone have never been accessed since his disappearance. Furthermore, Mr. Breen failed to attend his daughter's funeral in 2018, an event his family stated was completely out of character given their close relationship.
Detective Inspector Dave Dunstan indicated that all unsolved missing persons cases in Victoria are regularly reviewed, and Mr. Breen's case was re-examined last year. He emphasized that while 14 years have passed, police believe individuals still hold knowledge about Mr. Breen's whereabouts and the circumstances surrounding his disappearance. Police are re-releasing images of Mr. Breen in hopes of generating new leads.
