Following her heroic actions, which resulted in the deaths of six people and injuries to ten others, Scott was awarded the Commissioner's Valour award. The NSW Police Legacy charity announced her diagnosis, emphasizing her role as a devoted wife and mother of two young boys. A fundraiser established to support her and her family has already raised almost $65,000, demonstrating significant community support.
Premier Chris Minns has hailed Scott as a "genuine, bona fide Australian hero," with Police Minister Yasmin Catley and Opposition Leader Kellie Sloane also expressing their admiration and solidarity. The news comes as a coronial inquest into the Bondi attack revealed the perpetrator had been treated for schizophrenia and was experiencing psychosis at the time of the incident.
