Al-Ahmed received over $2.65 million through a GoFundMe appeal after video of his bravery went viral. He has since met world leaders and international media. His recent visit to financial advisors and ABC Bullion, where he was given VIP treatment, marks a step towards normalcy and managing his newfound fortune. He confirmed purchasing gold but declined to reveal the exact amount, though three 1kg bars could be valued around $750,000.
Beyond investments, al-Ahmed is using the funds for his family and ongoing medical care, including potential future surgery and nerve grafting for his shoulder. He continues to experience pain and sleep disturbances due to his injuries. The father of two resides in Western Sydney with his parents, who were visiting from Syria during the attack.
