Later, as Dhankar and a friend were leaving the venue, they were ambushed by a group of around 20 assailants armed with rods and sharp weapons. Forced to stop due to a railway crossing, Dhankar was brutally beaten while his friend escaped. He sustained extensive injuries and later passed away at Rohtak PGI.
