A solemn discovery was made on New Year's Day as the body of an elderly woman was recovered from the River Waveney near Beccles Marshes. Emergency services were alerted early on Thursday, January 1, after a member of the public reported seeing a woman in the water at The Quay.
Suffolk Police, who are leading the investigation, stated that the woman, believed to be in her 60s or 70s, was sadly confirmed deceased at the scene.
