Search teams have located a vehicle submerged in the Delaware River, believed to contain the body of Kortney Staples, a 33-year-old woman who has been missing since July 11. The car, a gray Nissan Altima with a distinctive missing passenger-side mirror, was discovered by boaters near Norris Street. A family member identified the vehicle as belonging to Staples.
Authorities are awaiting confirmation from the medical examiner regarding the identity and cause of death. However, investigators noted tattoos on the body that align with Staples' known features. The vehicle exhibited front-end damage, and the adjacent waterfront fence also showed signs of impact, suggesting it may have driven off the bank.
Staples was officially reported missing on July 18. While the investigation continues, police are not currently suspecting foul play. The recovery of the vehicle marks a potentially tragic end to the search for Staples, leaving her family devastated.
