Spanish authorities have recovered a body in Barcelona following the disappearance of University of Alabama student James "Jimmy" Gracey. The 20-year-old student vanished on March 17 after spending a night out with friends. He was last seen on surveillance footage leaving the popular Shôko nightclub around 3 a.m. with an unidentified individual.
The discovered body was found in the Somorrostro section of the city, in proximity to the beachfront club. Gracey's family confirmed his height and weight and provided details of his attire when he was last seen. His mother had posted on social media seeking information after he failed to return to his Airbnb.
Gracey's father traveled to Spain to aid the investigation. The university has stated they are aware of the situation and are in contact with the family. A police spokesperson noted that while a body was found, it still requires formal identification. Gracey was scheduled to return to the United States on March 21.
