In Meerut District Court, the murder trial of merchant navy officer Saurabh Rajput commenced, with his wife, Muskaan Rajput, and her alleged lover, Sahil, appearing as prime accused. Saurabh was reportedly murdered, dismembered, and sealed in a cement drum. Muskaan appeared in court with their six-month-old daughter, Radha.
Saurabh's mother, Renu Devi, confronted the accused, breaking down and demanding the death sentence. She alleged that Muskaan's family members were involved in the crime, though police stated Muskaan's father surrendered her. Renu Devi claimed her son sent Rs 50,000 monthly and reiterated the demand for the murderers to be hanged.
The couple, Saurabh and Muskaan, had a love marriage in 2016. Saurabh quit his job to be with her, but marital friction arose. They had a daughter in 2019. Tensions escalated when Saurabh discovered Muskaan's affair with Sahil, leading Saurabh to rejoin the Merchant Navy in 2023.
Saurabh returned on February 24, 2025, for his daughter's birthday. On March 4, 2025, Muskaan allegedly mixed sleeping pills in his food. She and Sahil then murdered him, dismembered his body into 15 pieces, and sealed it in a drum with wet cement, intending to dispose of it later.
