Three men from Birmingham, involved in drug supply operations, have been sentenced at Worcester Crown Court for their participation in a shooting that occurred on March 26, 2024, in Redditch. Deago Martin, Keelan Brookes, and Kaine Simmonds were convicted following an 11-week trial.
The court heard that the shooting involved a dispute between rival drug gangs. During the incident, firearms were discharged, with one bullet narrowly missing an unoccupied child's car seat inside a vehicle. Fortunately, the two individuals in the car were unharmed.
Martin received a 16-year sentence for attempted GBH with intent and possessing a firearm to endanger life. Brookes was sentenced to 14 years for similar charges, plus drug supply offenses. Simmonds received seven years and eight months for drug supply and assisting an offender. West Mercia Police highlighted the disregard for safety shown by the perpetrators and commended the investigation for exposing local drug lines.
