Authorities identified the victim as 34-year-old Birmingham resident Jorge Fonseca. He was shot during an argument that escalated into a physical altercation with a suspect believed to be known to him.
Paramedics attempted to save Fonseca's life, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. His family was among the customers present inside the barbershop during the tragic event.
The shooter fled the location immediately after the incident but was taken into custody by law enforcement approximately 15 minutes later. Police are continuing their investigation and have asked for public assistance.
